This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced GM or MD to join a well-funded start-up in the building materials industry. The Chairman has ambitious growth plans to expand across the region and into Africa. Successful candidates should be financially savvy, with a strong personal presence & gravitas, able to open doors and build relationships quickly.
- Reporting directly to the Chairman, acting as right-hand person to him – keeping him abreast of all changes in the business
- Develop business plan
- Formulate strategy for growth into new overseas territories
- Scope out new factory sites and ensure they become operational
- Prepare a strategy for the ecommerce business
- Be present at all international sales conferences & exhibitions
- Develop and maintain relationships and access at key decision maker level for assigned target clients
- Create and lead a professional, proactive, and performance-driven culture
- Hire a brand-new, top calibre team, and create KPIs for business managers in all areas such as IT, HR, Sales
- Personally contribute to growth of coverage across Africa, Middle East and Far East
- Ownership of P&L
- Work with team to establish effective pricing and staffing levels for each country and line of business
- Work alongside CFO to ensure budgets are being met
- Develop financial strategies for growth
- Manage global supply chain for the distribution business
- Works with the Directors of Production and Operations monitoring all production is in line with demand
- Acts as primary liaison to the board, finance committee and other appropriate committees
Qualifications
- MBA
- Proven track record of developing relationships at the key decision-maker level in new overseas territories
- Minimum 3 years experience as a MD/COO/GM in a distribution and/or manufacturing business, ideally in Building Materials
- Past experience of opening offices in new markets
- Proven record of leading and motivating teams
- Demonstrate sound commercial awareness
- Past experience as P&L owner
